Reaction Dynamics Studies at Coulomb Barrier Energies
abstract
The reaction dynamics induced by light weakly-bound projectiles in the energy range around the Coulomb barrier has attracted the interest of the Nuclear Physics community for at least thirty years. In fact, light projectiles like
6Li, 7Li and 9Be have (total) binding energies in the range 1.5-2.5 MeV, i.e. much smaller than "standard" nuclei located along thevalley of beta-stability. Being so weakly bound, there is a high probability for these nuclei to breakup in their constituent clusters while approaching a target nucleus or to trigger transfer processes of nuclear matter. Recent studies performed with these light projectiles and the perspectives for experiments to be performed with even more exotic Radioactive Ion Beams will be presented.
